PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Shortbody Mackerel is a species of fish in the family Scombridae, distributed in the waters of Asian countries. In Vietnam, mainly in the East Sea and Southwestern regions. Commercial name is usually Indo-Pacific Mackerel, in Thai it is Pla thu. It is widely found from the central provinces to the southern seas. Its season takes place all year round.
Short mackerel is distributed across various regions globally. Its availability can depend on local fishing seasons and geography. Coastal regions and areas with active fishing industries often have a more consistent supply of fresh short mackerel. In some places, you might even find it year-round due to its adaptability to different climates.
The fish's body is diamond-shaped and slightly flattened. Thanks to the large catch output each year, Shortbody Mackerel is not only consumed in the domestic market but also exported to the international market. Fish is mostly supplied to Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Hong Kong. This fish is marketed fresh, frozen, canned, dried salted and also made into fish sauce.
